Empire Company Limited (TSX: EMP-A.TO) is a major Canadian food retail and real estate conglomerate headquartered in Stellarton, Nova Scotia, with roots tracing back to 1907 and incorporation in 1963 by the Sobey family. Operating through two core segments — Food Retailing and Investments and Other Operations — the company conducts its grocery business via its wholly-owned subsidiary Sobeys Inc., which owns, affiliates, or franchises over 1,600 stores across all ten Canadian provinces under well-known banners including Sobeys, Safeway, IGA, Foodland, FreshCo, Thrifty Foods, Farm Boy, Longo's, and Lawtons Drugs, while also operating e-commerce platforms such as Voilà and ThriftyFoods.com.
