Company research
Hoku Corporation (OTC: HOKUQ) is a Honolulu, Hawaii-based solar energy products and services company, originally incorporated in 2001 as Hoku Scientific, Inc. before rebranding in March 2010. The company focused on manufacturing polysilicon — a critical raw material used in photovoltaic (PV) modules — as well as designing, engineering, and installing turnkey PV systems and related services in Hawaii using solar modules sourced from third-party suppliers. Hoku operated through two primary business units, Hoku Materials and Hoku Solar, positioning itself within the broader renewable energy supply chain. However, on July 2, 2013, Hoku Corporation and its affiliates filed a voluntary petition for liquidation under Chapter 7 of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Idaho, effectively ceasing operations.
