The First Trust India NIFTY 50 Equal Weight ETF (NASDAQ: NFTY), launched on February 14, 2012, and managed by First Trust Advisors L.P., is an exchange-traded fund that seeks to track the total return of the NIFTY 50 Equal Weight Index, which consists of the 50 largest and most liquid securities listed on the National Stock Exchange of India, each assigned an approximately equal weight of 2%. The fund normally invests at least 90% of its net assets in the common stocks that comprise the index, providing investors with diversified, pure-play exposure to India's large-cap equity market across sectors including Financial Services, Consumer Cyclical, Basic Materials, Healthcare, and Technology. Unlike traditional market-cap-weighted funds, NFTY's equal-weight methodology allows smaller index constituents to contribute as meaningfully to performance as larger ones, and the portfolio is rebalanced quarterly to maintain this balance. With approximately $132 million in assets under management, a net expense ratio of 0.80%, and a modest annual dividend yield, NFTY serves as a strategic vehicle for U.S.-based investors seeking targeted exposure to India's blue-chip corporate landscape.
