Airtel Africa Plc is a London-based telecommunications and mobile money services provider operating across 14 countries in Africa, with a focus on Nigeria, East Africa, and Francophone Africa, and is a subsidiary of Indian telecoms giant Bharti Airtel. The company offers an integrated suite of services including pre- and post-paid wireless voice, international roaming, high-speed 4G and 5G mobile data, home broadband, and fibre connectivity, alongside its rapidly growing Airtel Money platform, which provides digital wallet payments, microloans, savings, and international money transfers. Under the leadership of CEO Sunil Kumar Taldar, Airtel Africa has evolved from a traditional telecoms operator into a broader digital and financial services group, serving over 155 million customers and reporting revenues of $6.4 billion in FY2025/26, with net profit more than doubling to $813 million. With data now its largest revenue stream and Airtel Money boasting over 38 million active users, the company is strategically positioned to capitalise on Africa's rapidly expanding digital economy and the significant opportunity to bank the continent's unbanked population.
