Cenovus Energy Inc. (NYSE: CVE) is a Calgary, Alberta-based integrated energy company founded in 2009 that develops, produces, refines, transports, and markets crude oil, natural gas liquids, and natural gas across Canada, the United States, and the Asia Pacific region. The company's upstream operations are anchored by its large-scale oil sands projects in northern Alberta — including Foster Creek, Christina Lake, and Sunrise — complemented by conventional oil and gas assets in Western Canada and offshore exploration and development activities. On the downstream side, Cenovus operates the Lloydminster upgrading and asphalt refining complex, U.S. refining facilities producing gasoline, diesel, and jet fuel, the Bruderheim crude-by-rail terminal, two ethanol plants, and a retail and commercial petroleum distribution network across Canada. Under the leadership of President and CEO Jon McKenzie, Cenovus ranks as one of Canada's largest integrated oil and gas producers with approximately 7,200 full-time employees and a market capitalization of approximately $51 billion USD.
